The environment and resources are a suffocating problem in the region.
03.22.21 – Environment’s Innovative Policies that have nothing to do with inclusion, more than 340 thousand vacant properties in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and more than two million in Argentina, since 2005 different local and international organizations have been presenting the problem in the corresponding spheres, both the nation’s senate and the local and national authorities. But as usual, new innovative initiatives appear for our community «Tapiar las casas», and in this way these properties maintain unoccupied and with very high rents so that a whole family lives pending a rent and with an aggravating factor… “They know that there is nothing to rent”… And now with the issue of the pandemic, the situation gets worse and everyone is waiting for possible solutions which do not arrive.
Hotels, tenancies and pensions that do not meet the minimum conditions of habitability, in many cases make a feast by charging large sums of money for a small room which many times are very close to the rental value of an apartment and with the conditions that they impose: no children please. The population believes and visualizes the city as an alternative to solve their problems (health, education, security, environment, and so on) and they see their growth and human development through it, but our representatives and urban planners design increasingly explosive cities when world reality is telling them that there are other paths to follow, as well as that reality tells us that more than 50% of the world’s population is already in urban centers. Social organizations fight in Argentina for a law that can include everyone and solve the problem, as is the case of nationalizing Law 341 of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires; many slogans were left along the way, such as urban reform, for the right of the city, for safe tenure while international NGOs ask… What is this? But well, you can come to Argentina and we take a photo in front of a boarded-up house since it is useful for tourism. Not everything is lost; we don’t pay taxes either for the boarded-up house or for the photo. Flights are being regularized; everything is going back to normality. Although many are awaiting a «new normality» with more justice «that cannot be seen» and with more respect for others that cannot be seen. SOCINCE -News Agency for the Americas-
