A productive entrepreneurship of recycling cooperatives in Argentina
11.11.21.- They form a Federation so that in all areas they can know what is happening today with garbage, an eternal problem not only nationally but globally, and to inform who are the ones whom from the grassroots have known how to solve this problem, they are the ones who have transformed the waste into resources and they have also been transformed along that path of work and production to improve the quality of life of the families, and they have put Cristina Lescano, president of the El Ceibo Cooperative, at the head of the Federation, which develops its activities in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The Federation’ press release:
LAUNCH OF OUR FEDERATION
The cooperatives that make up the “𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘀 (𝗙𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗔)” fight for the recognition of a sector that for years has been completely violated, hidden, discarded and given birth by the inequality; pushed to places where no basic need was met, invisible and hidden like trash under the carpet.
It was the disastrous decade of the 90s, which brought a tragic end to the end of the 20th century, the time of endless struggles, as admirable as they were tragic, where inequality was commonplace and the violated were thrown into garbage dumps in all parts of the country. After decades of struggle, leaving dead and failed organizations on the way, thousands of colleagues decided to create bonds of brotherhood and we understood that the way out was, is and will always be collective.
At that precise moment the founding cooperatives of this new Federation were born, which is undoubtedly authentic and will seek to represent those who today, even though there are representations, are not visible. As well as this new expression is part of those of us who have not been able to find a real representation of fellow homeless cardboard collectors. We are aware of the responsibility generated by the determination of such commitment, which is the resurgence of a sector that does not “deal” with injustices, does not negotiate improvements for a few, nor the “short-term gain, long term pain” situation.
We were able to form social enterprises, establishing ourselves as workers, even though the public administration still thinks that we function with canned programs, plans and subsidies. And from the place of the companies that we constitute, we are giving the discussion for a regionalized competition, at federal level, stopping only on decent work, the path traveled and the firm intention of enhancing the sector of recycling and classification of urban solid waste (USW). From our experience in managing the waste that we continuously transform into value, we can sit down to discuss parliamentary laws, because who better than us to be able to write the change in history with laws that include, dignify and empower us in the sector?
Our federation is constituted so that all areas can know what happens today with garbage, an eternal problem not only national but global, and who we are, the ones who from the grassroots have known how to solve this problem, transforming waste into resources and transforming ourselves throughout that path.
We invite you to circulate with us for an Argentina without garbage and with decent work for all of us.
Cooperatives forming part: EL CEIBO, BELLA FLOR, PARAJE DUILIO, RECICLANDO SUEÑOS, SAN FRANCISCO, RECICLANDO BUENOS AIRES, ASOCIACIÓN CIVIL ABUELA NATURALEZA, SINFONIA CULTURAL.
